Norton, MA, September 22, 2008 – Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield (left) and infielder Sean Casey (center) joined Bernie Rubin, co-founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, (right) to sign balls for kids from the Home for Little Wanderers as part of the Ninth Annual Bernie’s Baseball Buddies outing at Fenway Park. Rubin brought a group of children from the Home to watch batting practice, meet players, eat ballpark food, and see their first game – which the Sox won.

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture To Give Away A “Royal Bedroom Makeover” At Sleeping Beauty Event

Fifty copies of the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition DVD will also be given away; lots of fun activities and prizes for everyone who comes.

Braintree, MA, September 16, 2008 – Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, in conjunction with Radio Disney, will host a family fun-filled Sleeping Beauty event on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bernie & Phyl’s Braintree store on 180 Wood Road.  Families can enter to win the grand prize, “A Royal Bedroom Makeover,” which includes a child’s bedroom set from Bernie & Phyl’s with Sleeping Beauty bedding and room décor items from Radio Disney.  The winner will be drawn that day, but does not need to be present to win.

The first 50 parents to register in the store will receive a complimentary copy of the Sleeping Beauty Special Edition DVD, prior to its scheduled release to the public on October 7, 2008. Parents and children are invited to come to Bernie & Phyl’s dressed in their favorite Sleeping Beauty costumes for a day of music, dancing, and a Sleeping Beauty-themed scavenger hunt, trivia, and prizes.  Radio Disney cast members and characters will be playing popular Disney songs.

“We are excited to host this special event with Radio Disney and to give one lucky child a bedroom makeover,” said Michelle Rubin Pepe, Director of Community Relations and the daughter of Bernie and Phyl. “As a family-run business, we know how much children, including our own, love Sleeping Beauty.  This is going to be a fun event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone there.”

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture Donates Furniture to New England Sinai Hospital Simulated Living Center

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture recently helped furnish the New England Sinai Hospital’s new Simulated Living Center, in Stoughton, with a love seat, swivel rocker, cocktail table, and end table. The Simulated Living Center is a special set of rooms where the hospital’s physical and occupational therapists help patients learn or relearn the skills necessary for real life after having suffered a stroke or physical injury.

 “This is a very worthwhile project and we were happy to donate the furniture they needed to make the Living Center an attractive, realistic space for patients to learn the skills necessary to speed their recovery and return home,” said Bernie Rubin, co-founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture.

Norton, MA, July 12, 2007 ­ Boston Red Sox outfielder Wily Mo Pena and Bernie Rubin, Co-Founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, signed balls for kids from the Home for Little Wanderers as part of the Eighth Annual Bernie’s Baseball Buddies outing at Fenway Park.  Rubin brought a group of children from the Home to watch batting practice, meet some players, eat great ballpark food, and see their first game.  In addition to hanging out with Pena, the kids got to meet Tim Wakefield before he pitched that night’s game.

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage To Collect Toys for Local Children in Need

Raynham, MA, November 27, 2006 – Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage are partnering this holiday season to collect toys for The Home for Little Wanderers’ (The Home) Big Wishes for Little Wanderers holiday gift drive.  The gift drive will run from November 27 through December 15 and will support the at-risk children and families that The Home serves.

People who are interested in donating new, unwrapped toys and/or gift certificates can drop the items off at all of Bernie & Phyl’s stores including its Raynham location, 244 New State Highway, or at the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in Taunton located at 40 Summer Street.

The Home needs toys for children ranging in age from infant to 13 years old, but also has an urgent need for gifts for the 14 to 18 year old teenagers in its care.  Teenagers are frequently overlooked during the holiday giving season.  Some great gift ideas for teenagers are gift certificates to clothing outlets, music stores, and online retailers.  Additional suggestions include school supplies, sporting goods, personal items such as toothpaste and toothbrushes, and hair and skin products.

Anyone interested in choosing a gift from a child’s personal wish list can visit www.thehome.org and click on “Big Wishes.”  People who don’t have time to deliver a gift, can shop from a general list of gift ideas on www.bigwishesforlittlewanderers.com and have the gift delivered directly to The Home’s Toy Room free of charge.

Braintree, MA, September 20, 2006 — Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture recently co-sponsored a child car seat safety check at its Braintree store.  Over 60 families had their car seats checked and correctly reinstalled by the state police.  Nine seats had to be replaced because they were too old or in bad condition.  According to the state police, 98 percent of all the child safety seats they inspect are installed incorrectly.  The event was co-sponsored by WCVB-TV/Channel 5, the Mass State Police Traffic Program Section, Babies ‘R’ Us, and the New England Toyota Dealers Association.  Shown here are Sgt.
