Bernies Baseball Buddies Meet Tim Wakefield
Boston, MA, June 2002 — Big smiles all around as Bernie Rubin, a.k.a. Bernie from Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture (right), and children from the Home For Little Wanderers in Boston, get their baseballs autographed by veteran Red Sox pitcher, Tim Wakefield. As part of his annual “Bernie’s Baseball Buddies” program, Bernie recently took a group of underprivileged kids to see a baseball game at Fenway Park. Bernie, a die-hard Red Sox fan, arranged for the kids to meet Tim Wakefield; to get a private tour of the park; to watch batting practice before the gates opened; and to have an endless supply of pizza, hot dogs, peanuts, ice cream, and more.
