Saugus, MA, May 3, 2004 — Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture will host a child car seat safety event at its Saugus store on Tuesday, May 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. During this time, parents can have trained technicians check to see that their infant/child car seat is installed correctly and have it reinstalled if it is not. This event is being co-sponsored by WCVB-TV/Channel 5.
Bernie and Phyllis (Phyl) Rubin, the founders of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, will be there in person to meet customers and talk about the importance of child car seat safety. Restraining a child properly in a motor vehicle can literally mean the difference between life and death. Current research shows that car crashes are the single largest cause of child fatalities. Using a correctly installed car seat that is appropriate for the child’s weight and age can be the crucial difference in case of an accident.
“We are happy to be able to sponsor and host this worthwhile family event,” said Bernie Rubin, co-founder and president of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture. “Participating in the car seat safety check will help keep kids safe and remind parents that everyone needs to buckle up in the car.”
