Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture “Friends In Need” Program Donates $55,000 Worth of Furniture to Goodwill
Norton, MA, January 10, 2003 — Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, the largest privately owned furniture retailer in Massachusetts, has announced that it has donated $55,000 worth of furniture to Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture regularly donates furniture to Goodwill and has given the organization over $300,000 in furniture donations since 2000. The donated merchandise is used to support Goodwill’s many workforce development, youth, and community programs which serve thousands of people in Massachusetts.
The donation is part of Bernie & Phyl’s “Friends In Need” program, which was launched in April 2000 with the goal of donating furniture to charitable organizations and homeless shelters in need across the state. The program has made numerous donations large and small, including helping furnish the houses that Habitat for Humanity Boston built in 2001 and 2002. Other charitable organizations that Bernie & Phyl’s has made major donations to include The Salvation Army, Pine Street Inn, Brockton Teen Challenge, and the Greater Nashua Visitation Center.
“It is our goal to touch as many people as we can through our Friends In Need program. Through Goodwill, we are able to reach many people in need on many levels,” said Bernie Rubin, co-founder and president of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture.
