Where’s The Furniture?
December 12, 2001 — But, where’s the furniture? Bernie and Phyllis Rubin, co-founders of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, recently served as celebrity judges for the Boston Habitat for Humanity’s annual Home for the Holidays gingerbread house competition. The event, which was held at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel, raises money for the organization to use for building low-cost housing for needy families. Over 20 companies sponsored the gingerbread houses and awards were given for best overall, most calories, best holiday spirit, and most creative. Bernie and Phyl are strong supporters of the Habitat for Humanity program and have forged an alliance with the organization to furnish the houses they build on an ongoing basis. No wonder Bernie wanted to know “where the furniture was.”
