Bernie’s Baseball Buddies are Back at Fenway
Boston, MA, June 14, 2001 — The inimitable Bernie Rubin, a.k.a. Bernie from Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, (pictured in the center), recently took 25 kids from the Home For Little Wanderers in Boston (a few of whom are pictured here) to see their first baseball game. Bernie, an avid Red Sox fan, arranged for the kids to meet some of the Red Sox including ace left fielder Dante Bichette (pictured in front); to get a private tour of the park; to watch batting practice before the gates opened; and to have an endless supply of pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, and more. Every year, Bernie takes a group of needy children to see a Red Sox game as part of his “Bernie’s Baseball Buddies” program, which was launched last year.
