
Norton, MA, September 22, 2008 – Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield (left) and infielder Sean Casey (center) joined Bernie Rubin, co-founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, (right) to sign balls for kids from the Home for Little Wanderers as part of the Ninth Annual Bernie’s Baseball Buddies outing at Fenway Park. Rubin brought a group of children from the Home to watch batting practice, meet players, eat ballpark food, and see their first game – which the Sox won.

Norton, MA, July 12, 2007 Boston Red Sox outfielder Wily Mo Pena and Bernie Rubin, Co-Founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, signed balls for kids from the Home for Little Wanderers as part of the Eighth Annual Bernie’s Baseball Buddies outing at Fenway Park. Rubin brought a group of children from the Home to watch batting practice, meet some players, eat great ballpark food, and see their first game. In addition to hanging out with Pena, the kids got to meet Tim Wakefield before he pitched that night’s game.

Norton, MA, July 10, 2006 – Boston Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield recently gave Bernie Rubin, co-founder of Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture, a few pointers on his knuckle ball after signing baseballs for a group of “Bernie’s Baseball Buddies” from the Home for Little Wanderers. This is the seventh year that Bernie has taken a group of kids from the Home to see their first Red Sox game, to watch batting practice, and to meet some players. In addition to Wakefield, the kids met Manny Ramirez and Red Sox Hall-of-Famer Johnny Pesky.

Bernie arranged for the kids to get a tour of the park and meet Red Sox pitching ace Tim Wakefield, shown here autographing a ball for one of the kids. Bernie and the kids hung out and ate peanuts, hot dogs, pizza, soda, and ice cream, and watched the Red Sox beat the Cincinnati Reds.

Bernie arranged for the kids to get a tour of the park and meet the beloved Green Monster. Bernie and the kids hung out and ate peanuts, hot dogs, pizza, soda, and ice cream while Pedro Martinez pitched a win for the Red Sox.

Every year, Bernie takes a group of needy children to see a Red Sox game as part of his “Bernie’s Baseball Buddies” program, which was launched last year.

Bernie, an avid Red Sox fan, arranged for the kids to get a private tour of the park, to watch batting practice before the gates opened, and to meet some of the Red Sox including Manager Jimy Williams and Wendell Kim, the team’s Third Base Coach (pictured in front). Every year, Bernie plans to take a group of needy children to see a Red Sox game as part of his “Bernie’s Baseball Buddies” program, which was launched with this first outing. Lots of fun was had by all – even if it was sometimes hard to tell the big kid from the little kids!
